John chapter 20 verses 19-20 (NIV)
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
The disciples were afraid of the authorities and had put barriers up to protect themselves. But those barriers were of no consequence to Jesus. He stood right in their midst and banished their fear. From now on things would be different and their lives changed.
These verses are a reminder that Jesus can break through our fears too. Whatever we face, Jesus is on the midst of it, alongside us. What more do we need to comfort and strengthen us?
Dear Lord,
I’m so blessed that You stand with me in the midst of things that may cause me to fear. Thank You that I don’t ever need to face them alone. Amen.
