Exodus Chapter 8: Verses 9-10 (NLT Translation)
“You set the time!” Moses replied. “Tell me when you want me to pray for you, your officials and your people. Then you and your people will be rid of the frogs. They will remain only in the river Nile.”
“Do it tomorrow,” Pharaoh said.
“All right,” Moses replied, “it will be as you have said. Then you will know there is no one like the LORD our God.”
Hebrews Chapter 3: Verse 15 (NLT Translation)
Remember what it says, “today if you hear his voice, as Israel did when they rebelled.”
If my home and neighbourhood was overrun as Pharaoh’s was. I’d be wanting Moses to pray now, and not be waiting till tomorrow! I think it shows that Pharaoh wasn’t really serious about seeing God move, and it wasn’t very nice of him to make the rest of the country wait.
When we put things off, it is sometimes because we are a bit half-hearted about it. But when God speaks, as the writer of Hebrews encourages, we should respond straight away, and not put off whatever He is asking us.
And actually, as I am a procrastinator by nature, its wise advice for every area of my life!
Dear LORD,
I pray that I might respond to what You say when I should, and not when I feel like it.
I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
