10 September 2026 – What have I learned today?

Psalm 106 verses 32-33 (NIV)

 By the waters of Meribah they angered the LORD,

   and trouble came to Moses because of them;

 for they rebelled against the Spirit of God,

   and rash words came from Moses’ lips.

We need to be aware that our actions can impact others, hopefully most of the time in a positive way, but sadly sometimes not.

Moses had endured forty years of complaining, treachery and rebellion from a people he had been called to lead. Many times he had pleaded with God on their behalf, yet they continued in their disobedience. Finally he was pushed too far, and it led him to react in a way that he shouldn’t and it cost him dearly.

How we react to difficult situations can be a testimony to our trust in God, or it can turn people away. Even if we feel justified in reacting in a certain way, we need to remember who we represent. Reacting in anger could cost us dearly.

Dear Lord,

I do have sympathy with Moses but his story is a reminder of our need to be totally obedient to God, no matter what. I need the help of the Holy Spirit to respond rightly if I am provoked to anger. Help me to conduct myself as a good ambassador. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
