11 October 2026 – What have I learned today?

1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 1-12 (NIV)

and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

Paul again makes things very simple for the Thessalonians. It’s a bit like the verse from Colossians about setting our hearts on the things of God. He tells us to make it our ambition to lead a quiet life and mind our own business. Yet we often expect our young people to have grand ambitions. What greater ambition however can there be than to have those who don’t yet know Jesus, recognise Him moving through our lives. We must therefore allow Him to.

Dear Lord,

May my ambitions be Godly and God-given. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
