12 February 2025 – What have I learned today?

Exodus chapter 11 verse 2 (NIV)

The LORD made the Egyptians favourably disposed toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh’s officials and by the people.

Exodus chapter 12 verse 38 (NIV)

Many other people went up with them, and also large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.

Moses obeyed God and continued to appear before Pharaoh to ask him to let the people go. As the plagues progressed due to Pharaoh’s hardness of heart. It seems that others however were taking notice of what Moses said and even taking the step to throw in their lot and leave Egypt alongside the people of God. In spite of Pharaoh’s opposition, God was still able to be revealed to those who were prepared to listen.

This is another example of how important it is for Christians to live their lives with integrity and conduct ourselves in a manner that reflects Jesus in us. Yes, there will be people who will mock us and make fun of our faith, but there are others who will be watching how we respond to opposition and difficult circumstances. What they see may cause them to rethink their own relationship with God. God is always watching over us but we never know who else may be watching and the importance of our impact on their lives.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that in spite of Pharaoh’s stubborn and hard heart, other people recognised that Your hand was moving through Moses and they responded. In spite of the way Pharaoh opposed Your will, Moses’ persistent, faithful witness made an impact on others. Help me to remember that in my own life even when I face opposition and difficulty. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.Exodus chapter 11 verse 2 (NIV)
