12 July 2026 – What have I learned today?

Romans chapter 1 verses 11 – 12 (NIV)

I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—  that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Paul had been well schooled in the Scriptures as a young man. He’d studied under a prominent teacher. Then he had his own encounter with Jesus and had many occasions where God revealed His plans and directions. So he had much to teach the fledgling roman church and the others of whom we read in his letters.

Yet he is humble enough to say that he expected to be mutually encouraged by the faith of these new Christians.

Yesterday I was challenged about being an encouragement to young Christians, but today it’s worth remembering that we can be encouraged by them. Their freshness and zeal can teach us much so we must be careful never to look down on either their experiences or what they may have to share with us.

Dear Lord,

Help me to learn from whoever You choose to be an instrument in Your hands. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
