Acts chapter 7 verse 51 (NIV)
“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!”
James chapter 4 verse 7 (NIV)
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
How sad that the religious leaders at the time of the acts of the Apostles missed out on what God was doing because of their resistance to the work that the Holy Spirit was doing. If they had concentrated on resisting the devil their lives would have been so different.
We might think that we don’t resist the work of the Holy Spirit, but can we truly say we haven’t on occasion ignored that niggle in our own spirit because we don’t want to do as we are being prompted, or is that just me?
This is a reminder to me today of the importance of ensuring that I resist who I’m supposed to!
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the blessing of the Holy Spirit. Help me to allow Him to move in my life as He wills. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
