John chapter 7 verse 27 (NIV)
“But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”
People thought they knew Jesus. Some had known Him since a small boy, but they clearly either didn’t know the whole story, or fully understand the scriptures, so they made assumptions which were not correct. We need to be careful not to fall into that trap, even if people make assumptions about us. That means we should make sure we know all the facts that we need and also seek confirmation from God’s word. We may be surprised at what God wants to do through us and for us. It might not be as we expected. But the good thing is God always knows the full picture and nothing can take Him by surprise. – We saw yesterday how important it was to be able to rely and trust in God and in His strength, so even if things aren’t going how we assume they should be, we know that God can be trusted and He knows exactly what He’s doing!
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the reminder not to make assumptions, and to also seek Your guidance on how to move forward in Your will. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
