Psalm 107 verses 1-7 (NIV)
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south. Some wandered in desert wastelands,
finding no way to a city where they could settle.
They were hungry and thirsty,
and their lives ebbed away.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way
to a city where they could settle…
We are not all called to preach or teach God’s word, but this section of Psalm 107 reminds us that every Christian has a story to tell – “Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story.”
Why is this important? Verse 1 tells us that we are to give thanks to the Lord for He is good and for His love that endures forever.
We read in the subsequent verses in this section of how God draws lives back to Himself from all sorts of different places, and when anyone cries out to Him in need.
We all come to God from different places and experiences, and we come back to Him when we recognise our need. We may not like public speaking, but our individual story might resonate with someone in a one to one conversation. Let’s make the effort to give thanks to God by sharing our story a bit more often, and it doesn’t have to be from a pulpit.
Dear Lord,
I do give You thanks for drawing me back by the unconditional love of Jesus. Help me to offer that thanks also by sharing my story. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
