13 August 2026 – What have I learned today?

1 Corinthians chapter 8 verses 1 – 3 (NIV)

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.  Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know.  But whoever loves God is known by God.

We need to be careful about our attitude. Paul told the Corinthians that “knowledge puffs up”. We may be used by God in many different ways. We may know His hand on our life and His blessing, but that is only by His goodness and His grace. It doesn’t make us better than others. We may be at a different place in our relationship with God than someone else but we should never look down on others who are not at the same place. Paul concludes that “Love builds up”.

Therefore mature Christians should always seek to encourage and build up others in their faith. What a difference that would make to the wider church.

Dear Lord,

I am grateful for everything that You have taught me thus far. Help me to be a encouager of others, building them up in their faith. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
