Revelation chapter 5: verse 8 (NIV)
And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
If we ever need reminded that God doesn’t treat our prayers lightly. Its this verse in Revelation. Our prayers are treated with respect by the twenty-four elders and are brought before the throne of God Himself. That’s why we know He will answer us – our prayers are precious to Him. We may not always get the answer we hope for or expect, but we will get the answer that is right for us in God’s eyes. In a way it follows on from yesterday’s musings on Mordecai’s actions. We saw how what He had done was not overlooked, and we can trust that our prayers have been heard before the very throne of God.
But we do need to accept with grace that response to our prayers, even if it’s not the one we hoped for.
Dear Lord,
I find it humbling that my prayers are placed in a golden bowl and brought with reverence before Your face. Help me to remember that they are always heard even if the response is not the one I hoped for. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen,
