14 February 2023 – What have I learned today?
Matthew Chapter 28: Verse 8 (NLT Version)
The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message.
When God gives us a job to do – perhaps to share our story, it’s a great privilege and brings us great joy to be able to do so. But maybe the responsibility of this commission or calling makes us a bit anxious at the same time. There’s nothing wrong with that – God wants us to go in His strength not ours. Its only if we allow that anxiety to become a hinderance to our obedience to God that we need to do something about it.
The women rushed off to pass on the angel’s message to the disciples. And in doing so they received an even greater blessing -Jesus Himself appeared to them. (Matthew 28:9 – “And as they went Jesus met them and greeted them…”)
When we act in obedience, putting our own fears aside, God will not forget, and we will be blessed for putting Him first over our own fears.
Dear God,
Help me to respond to Your instructions with joy, even if I am afraid.
I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
