Jeremiah chapter 30 verses 1 – 3 ( NIV)
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you. The days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their ancestors to possess,’ says the LORD.”
“This is what the LORD says” is listed 4 times in chapter 30 alone. God also told Jeremiah to write down everything he’d been told in a book. Perhaps so that others could see what God had said, and also so that when God’s promises came to pass there would be confirmation there on record.
It reinforced to me also the need for all of us to delve more deeply into God’s word in the Bible and see what He would say to us. After all it is full of things He would like us to learn and take on board. Then we can also rejoice when we see the confirmation and fulfilment of all the promises the Bible records.
Dear Lord,
Thank You once more for the ease and privilege that we in the West have to the Bible. May I never take it for granted, and treasure the promises it contains. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
