15 September 2025 – What have I learned today?

Galatians chapter 2 verses 1-2 (NIV)

Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain.

Paul had been given a calling by the Lord Himself. He was directed by the Holy Spirit, but he was also careful to let the leaders of the early church know what He was doing. He met them privately so as not to cause any division in the wider church or even speculation as to what God might be doing.

It’s not wrong for us, even where we are confident of God’s direction, to take counsel from those we can trust to want God’s will for us, and we don’t have to immediately broadcast God’s plans to all and sundry until He tells us to.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Paul’s example of wisdom and discretion. Help me to cultivate those same qualities so as not to hinder Your moving in my life. I ask In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
