16 July 2025 – What have I learned today?

Amos chapter 3 verses 7-8 (NIV)

Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing

   without revealing his plan

  to his servants the prophets.

 The lion has roared —

   who will not fear?

  The Sovereign LORD has spoken—

   who can but prophesy?

1 Corinthians chapter 16 verse 13 (NIV)

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

God is never caught unaware. He is never taken by surprise, and He wants us to be aware of everything that He’s doing. On the other hand, Satan is always trying to catch us out. That’s why Paul often taught the New Testament churches, as he does here to the Corinthians, that they should be on their guard.

God is so gracious to those who want to wholeheartedly follow Him that He wants to reveal to us His plans. How amazing is that! However that’s why we must pay close attention to what God says to us, both in His word and through His servants, and act on what He says.

In these days, particularly on the various social media platforms, there is much to encourage Christians and sadly, much that would seek to “deceive the elect if that were possible.” (Matthew chapter 24 verse 24) So let’s make sure we stay close to God through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We will only be caught off guard if we’re not paying attention to what God is saying and doing.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Your love and faithfulness that intends to draw us close to You that we may follow Your ways. Help me to pay close attention to Your voice so that I may follow Your leading. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
