Jeremiah chapter 33 verses 1-3 (NIV)
While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the word of the LORD came to him a second time: “This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the LORD is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
What struck me in these verses was that even whilst under house arrest, Jeremiah was still in a position to hear what God had to say to him, just as Paul would do in similar circumstances hundreds of years later. It would have been easy for him to be so caught up in his trials that he missed what God wanted to say to, and through him.
It’s also a reminder to us that we have no excuse, whatever our circumstances, to hear what the LORD would say to us.
Dear Lord,
Help me to keep my ears always open to hear Your voice, no matter what is going on in my life. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
