16 September 2025 – What have I learned today?

Psalm 107 verse 43 (NIV)

Let the one who is wise heed these things

and ponder the loving deeds of the LORD.

People, usually those who don’t have a true relationship with God, may have their own perception of what He is like. Generally that is either that He is a heartless dictator, or that He is a benevolent Santa Claus like figure. He is neither of these things.

All of His precepts and directions are for our good. So often we rail against what He wants us to do, and it gets us into situations that could have been avoided. We persuade ourselves that we know best, and of course we don’t!

If we ponder the advice in this psalm, it will certainly keep our focus, and hopefully make us act on God’s direction without dragging our heels. If we sincerely consider the loving deeds of the Lord, and all the good things He has done for us, how can we not be obedient to His ways. He has so much more in store for our good. That should fill our hearts with praise.

Dear Lord,

We do not deserve the loving kindness that You show to us, yet I am reminded that Your word tells us that it’s Your kindness that leads us to repentance. Help me to trust that every instruction from You is for my good and done in that loving kindness. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
