Psalm 10 verses 4-5 (NIV)
In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. His ways are always prosperous, your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies.
The verses in this psalm remind me why pride is such a dangerous emotion if we do not take care. If we take pride in ourselves, then it becomes too easy to become self reliant and we forget to rely on God. That’s when we can get ourselves in sticky situations, which, were it not for the forgiving grace of God, we would be unable in our own strength to get ourselves out of. It’s a reminder that we were not created to be self-suffient, but to rely on God.
Dear Lord,
Help me to remember that Your ways are always better than mine, even when I think I know what I’m doing. Thank You for Your goodness and grace. Amen.
