Exodus Chapter 23 – Verses 28 to 30 (NLT Version)
“I will send terror ahead of you to drive out the Hivites, Canaanites and the Hittites. But I will not drive them out in a single year, because the land would become desolate and the wild animals would multiply and threaten you. I will drive them out a little at a time until your population has increased enough to take possession of the land.
We have already seen that God doesn’t always take us on the shortest route through a situation, or change things immediately, and here we see another example of how he takes account of the bigger picture.
He knows how much pressure we can handle, and there are situations where we must learn to walk before we can run. God knows all of our strengths and weaknesses. He won’t ever put us into a situation which we can’t handle by His grace. It’s reassuring to know that God knows exactly what He’s doing and we can rely on that.
Dear God,
Sometimes I get impatient and want things changed right away. Help me to have patience and trust You in the situations where I must go little by little. I know that You are still in control. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
