18 September 2026 – What have I learned today?

Isaiah chapter 43 verses 1-3 (NIV)

But now, this is what the LORD says—

   he who created you, Jacob,

   he who formed you, Israel:

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;

   I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

When you pass through the waters,

   I will be with you;

and when you pass through the rivers,

   they will not sweep over you.

When you walk through the fire,

   you will not be burned;

   the flames will not set you ablaze.

 For I am the LORD your God,

   the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour;

I give Egypt for your ransom,

   Cush and Seba in your stead.

This portion of Isaiah follows on from what has been the theme for me for most of this week. God makes it quite clear here, as He does in many other places throughout scripture, that there will be times when we may face hardship or difficulty, in spite of what some who claim to be Christians might say. He does however promise to be with us through them if it’s not His will to take us out of them. That should be enough for us.

Dear Lord,

Help me to hold on to the promise that You will walk with me in every circumstance, no matter what it is. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
