19 June 2025 – What have I learned today?

Psalm 75 verses 1- 3 (NIV)

We praise you, God,

   we praise you, for your Name is near;

  people tell of your wonderful deeds.

 You say, “I choose the appointed time;

   it is I who judge with equity.

When the earth and all its people quake,

   it is I who hold its pillars firm.

Words of reassurance from the Bible today. It seems that every news broadcast brings word of tormoil, war and uncertainty. Personally, I think it’s a sign of the times. As a young Christian, I often heard a pastor say that the Bible was as up to date as today’s newspaper. Still so true, even if we substitute electronic media today for newspapers!

That being the case, it’s reassuring therefore to read that God is still in control, even when it seems that the world has gone awry. And not only that, at God’s appointed time He will make everything right, judging with complete fairness and equity. Those of us who have accepted the gift of forgiveness through Christ have nothing to fear, and will marvel at God’s hand. But many have no such reassurance and we need to pray for opportunities to share the Good News with them. Surely it’s needed at such a time as this.

Dear Lord,

help me to be bold in sharing the Good News in these turbulent times. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
