19 October 2025 – What have I learned today?

1 Timothy chapter 4 verses 15-16 (NIV)

Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.  Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Paul was very aware that Christians would be watched, and their behaviour judged. This was, after all, new teaching in many of the places where Paul and the other ministers went. It’s right to want to see progress. When we become followers of Jesus, He intends that we are to be changed from glory to glory, and the work that the Holy Spirit is doing in our lives should be evident to others. We need to also take responsibility for watching our own attitudes and behaviours if we are to be the Ambassadors of Christ that we should be.

Dear Lord,

Help me to be diligent in applying myself to Your teachings, and willingly obedient to the directions of the Holy Spirit so that Your work is evident in my life and thus You will receive the glory. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
