2 April 2026 – What have I learned today?

Luke chapter 9 verses 18-21 (NIV)

Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”

This is a very familiar account. But what struck me today was the fact that although Jesus did ask the disciples what others thought, He was more interested in what they thought.

Sometimes it’s easy for us to get caught up with other people think and respond accordingly, where actually in our turn its more important for us to be concerned about what the Lord thinks and act in accordance with that.

Dear Lord,

Help me not to get anxious about what other people think about me. Help me to make sure that the most important thing is that I seek Your mind on my actions and respond according to Your will. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
