Genesis chapter 3 verses 8-9 (NIV)
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
Adam and Eve knew they had sinned so they hid from God. They knew things had changed and that they had disobeyed His only command. They felt the weight of their guilt. It was too heavy to bear. But God knew that before He spoke. Yet still He came to find them. There was still hope.
How often do we behave in the same way as Adam and Eve? When we have messed up, it’s easy to want to hide from God. Yet He wants to draw us in to Himself. We often waste time hiding, when God has made a way back for us. Let’s not waste any time in this new year and keep short accounts with God.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for never giving up on us. Thank You Jesus for paying the price that made coming back to God possible. Help me in this year not to bury my head in the sand and to keep short accounts with You. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
