Philippians Chapter 3: verse 17 (NLT)
Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example.
I have a bad habit of putting things off, especially things that I think are going to be difficult, and I’m a bit of a procrastinator. But there are things we should not put off. Following God is one of them and the verse from Psalm 116 tells us that the time to do that is now. Too often people think they can put off having a relationship with God until they are older, or because they think it might be too difficult, or that its not the “right time.” But in God’s eyes the time to follow Him is now, If we put it off, we might never get around to it, and waiting until we get to eternity is not an option.
Paul encourages the Philippian church to follow His example ands set themselves to following the ways of God. The same principle applies to anything that God wants us to do. Let’s do it off. If we do it when we should, we will often find that its not as difficult as we anticipated.
Dear Lord.
I know I’m guilty of putting things off. Help me to do what You ask when I should do, and not put things off because I am anxious. Help me to trust that You will give me the strength to do as You ask, when I should, and not when I feel like it. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
