20 August 2025 – What have I learned today?

2 Chronicles chapter 11 verses 16-17 (NIV)

Those from every tribe of Israel who set their hearts on seeking the LORD, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the LORD, the God of their ancestors.  They strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon three years, following the ways of David and Solomon during this time.

Not everyone will be interested in seeking God’s will and direction, including those who are positions of authority. King Rehoboam was one of those, but he soon learned his lesson. The King of Israel did not. But we see that all who set their hearts on seeking God went, along with the Levites to Jerusalem. Their desire to seek God made a practical impact, they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported the king.

As Christians we too, if we set our hearts to seek God and follow His direction should also, through the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit, be able to support those in positions of leadership and authority, both spiritual leaders and others. We can make a difference by our obedience and support!

That’s why organisations like “Christians in Parliament” are so important. But we must support all who have authority, that they may be guided by God Himself.

Dear Lord,

I pray for those in authority who must make decisions on our behalf. I pray especially for those who love and follow You that they ay be obedient in following Your direction, even if it’s unpopular with others. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen
