Proverbs chapter 20 verse 21 (NIV)
An inheritance claimed too soon
will not be blessed at the end.
In the parable of the prodigal son, found in Luke chapter 15 verses 11 to 32, we actually see the outworking of this verse in Proverbs.
The prodigal son claimed his inheritance and wasted it. But Solomon did not know the end of the story – the forgiveness and grace shown to the prodigal by the father.
For us who have known that grace and forgiveness, we need to also remember and pray for those who, as yet, only share Solomon’s experience, and who have yet to experience the Father’s grace and forgiveness for themselves.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that, although wise, Solomon’s findings are not the end of the story. Help all those who are wondering whether there may be a way for them to come back to You. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
