Psalm 119 verse 71 (NIV)
It was good for me to be afflicted
so that I might learn your decrees.
No one likes going through hardships. We want to get through the experience of such as soon as possible. But in doing so, we take our eyes off what God is doing in our lives as a result of such a time. If we ask God to show us what He wants us to learn, then we will look at our circumstances with a different attitude.
The psalmist could look back and say that it was good for him to be afflicted because in that affliction, he learned more of God’s ways. Can we say the same? The challenge is that God wants us to be able to.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for reminding me that You use many different means to teach me Your ways. Whichever You choose, it is always for my good, so help me not to fight against it. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
