20 September 2025 – What have I learned today?

Galatians chapter 5 verses 13-15 (NIV)

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.”  If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

In my opinion, these verses, written to the Galatian church, are so up to date in the current devicive climate, that they could headline any news broadcast!

Being free in Christ doesn’t mean that we can do whatever we chose, or thumb our noses at someone whose views we disagree with. Is that Christ like? No it certainly isn’t. Being Christ like is not about the banner we identify with or worship under. Based on some of the behaviour I have seen reported in the UK in the last week, I’m not sure many of the protestor will have known what Charlie Kirk’s faith beliefs were, or if any have sat in a Sunday Service for a while. Our conduct sometimes belies our faith, and people can tell. We shouldn’t just say we love our neighbour, we should do it, and that’s often harder to do than say isn’t it?

Dear Lord,

Help me to monitor and manage my conduct so as not to tarnish the truth. May the barometer in terms of doubt be, “Is it Christ like? I ask it in His Name. Amen.
