2 Chronicles chapter 13 verse 18 (NIV)
The Israelites were subdued on that occasion, and the people of Judah were victorious because they relied on the LORD, the God of their ancestors.
2 Chronicles chapter 15 verse 15 (NIV)
All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.
Verse 18 of the 13th chapter of Chronicles is a reminder of God’s provision. The people of Judah relied on the LORD and were victorious. They were not victorious because they were good warriors, in fact they were not victorious because of anything they had done. It was all because they trusted God to do it for them. It reminded me not to rush around doing “stuff”, even on God’s behalf. I just need to rely on Him.
But the second reading from two chapters further along, is equally important. We should seek God wholeheartedly and rejoice in serving Him. He will never disappoint those who do so.
Dear Lord,
May I always rejoice in serving You and may it also always be wholeheartedly. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
