Luke Chapter 12: Verses 25-26
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life. Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
Luke Chapter 21: Verses 14-15
“But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.”
If you are prone to worry, it’s hard not to default to that when circumstances seem against you. Jesus gave His disciples this instruction – make up Your mind not to worry beforehand. We therefore have to make a conscious choice not to worry about our circumstances, and having done so ask the Holy Spirit to help us to leave things to God.
As Jesus also said, worrying can’t add to our life. It actually robs us of our joy and peace. Jesus knew people’s hearts and so this was a subject He spoke about often. And He knows we need to hear it often still. As a worrier by nature these words are so encouraging and helpful for me. I need to come back to them often.
Dear Lord,
So often I worry when as to make up my mind to leave things in Your hands, especially things that I know that I cannot change. Thank You for reminding us of how much You will take care of us. Increase my faith and trust in You, and forgive me for my lack of faith. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
