1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 10 (NIV)
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them —yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
This verse, although written many years later than those in yesterday’s reading, follows a very similar theme. Paul, when he was a young scholar, worked and studied hard. He persecuted the church because he thought it was right. Yet the grace of God changed him. He now writes that although he now worked hard, it’s not in his own strength, but through God’s grace.
Another reminder for me to trust God to move through me and not rely on my own initiative.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that all I have is not because of who I am, but by Your grace. Help me to allow that grace to continue to change me. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
