Genesis chapter 46 verses 2-4 (NIV)
And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”“Here I am,” he replied, “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.”
God had promised Canaan to Abraham’s family, so I wonder if Jacob had some concerns about going down to Egypt? It might have seemed like a backward step. But God spoke to Jacob to reassure him that He had everything in hand. God’s ways may sometimes seem strange to us, but we have to remember that God’s ways are indeed higher than ours. We may not initially see how God’s plans will work out, but we can trust that He knows what He is doing, and rely completely on His judgement.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for reminding me once again that Your ways are not my ways, but I know Your plans are good and that I can trust that all things work together for good for those that love You. Thank You. Amen.
