24 August 2023 – What have I learned today?

Proverbs Chapter 21: Verses 2-3 (NLT)

People may be right in their own eyes,
but the Lord examines their heart.

The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just
than when we offer him sacrifices.

When we set our hearts on something we can usually find a way to justify it, at least in our own eyes. But God knows our hearts and our motives. What we need to consider is whether what we are planning to do is right in God’s eyes. This follows on from what I learned from yesterday’s bible verses. I might have a good idea, but is it the way God wants me to go? We need to be wise enough to know the difference.

If we’re determined to go our own way, we must remember that God is not interested in us offering to do something else for Him instead. You can’t compromise with God because His ways are higher that ours and they are always right!

Dear Lord,

I am sometimes tempted to justify doing things the way I think they should be done without consulting You. I need to remember that Your ways are just and ALWAYS right. Forgive me for the times I want to get my own way. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
