24 July 2026 – What have I learned today?

Romans chapter 8 verses 35-39 (NIV)

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  As it is written:  “For your sake we face death all day long;

   we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

These verses are so well known and loved. But as has so often happened lately, it was three words that jumped out at me – “I am convinced…”

Already Paul had been through so much. Things that most of us could never imagine because of his faith. But in spite of that he could write these words. Why? Because he could testify to the truth of what he wrote, and that testimony has sustained countless lives who were going through their own trials.

But that means that we can too. Paul’s words which have been tried and tested, can convince us as well. Know today for certain that nothing can separate us from the love of God. I’m glad today that I can say I am convinced…

Dear Lord,

I am so grateful to know Your love and your mercy. Thank You. Amen.
