24 October 2023- What have I learned today?

2 Timothy Chapter 3: Verses 16-17 (NLT)

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

We learn how to do things in different ways. Sometimes we are shown what to do, and learn how to do it by copying someone else. That’s why we need to be careful of our testimony as Christians. People are watching how we live. But there are times when we need to read the maker’s instructions, for example when we buy a new piece of equipment. If we can’t be bothered reading them, we might not realise fully what it can do for us, or we might break it.

The Bible is intended by God to teach us how to live. Its not as difficult to read as people think, and every area of life is covered. There are lots of Bible reading guides to help us get started and we don’t need to be highly educated either. We can ask God to show us what He wants to teach us in even a very short portion of the scripture. That was how I started out doing a daily blog in the first place, and I believe anyone else can do the same. The worst thing we can do is leave it on the shelf and only dust it off occasionally. It has so much to teach us that it’s worth making the effort.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the freedom to be able to openly possess and read the Bible. Others are not so fortunate. May I never take it for granted. I thank You that its teachings are fresh every day. May I be like Paul told Timothy, and be able to correctly handle it. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
