1 Corinthians chapter 16 verses 13-14 (NIV)
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.
How to live our lives in two sentences. It’s possible to stand firm and to be courageous and strong but still to need to be on our guard about how to respond to circumstances that cross our paths. Yet we need to pay as much heed to the final sentence of this passage. Whilst we are conducting ourselves in the manner commended to us by Paul in the preceding sentences, we must carry them out in love. If we do so it’s that which will change us completely.
Dear Lord,
Help me to live by the counsel given by Paul, but to do so with the love that reflects the love of Christ. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
