25 July 2025- What have I learned today?

Hosea chapter 13 verses 5-6 (NIV)

I cared for you in the wilderness,

   in the land of burning heat.

 When I fed them, they were satisfied;

   when they were satisfied, they became proud;

   then they forgot me.

Hosea reminds us here that God looks after us in the wilderness. He cares for us in difficult times. He cares for us in times of blessing. We can simply say He cares for us at all times. But we must be sensitive and not become complacent to that love and care, especially during the times of blessing. In those times we should make a point of showing our gratitude for God’s unmerited favour towards us. We see in Israel’s history, as Hosea reminds the people here, that when they had strayed and cried out to God, He heard and rescued them, yet in times of peace and prosperity, they forgot Him once more, and so their relationship continued I’m a series of peaks and troughs. Let’s not make the same mistake. God wants a constant and stable relationship with us. That’s why Jesus died in our place.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for caring for me at all times. May I never take that for granted. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
