Ephesians chapter 4 verses 15-16 (NIV)
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Paul reminded the Ephesians that we are expected to grow and become mature. But the important thing is, as members of the body of Christ, we don’t do so in isolation. We are expected to work together to grow, supporting other members with their own growth, and do so in love. In a work situation, we know the benefits of working in a supportive and functioning team, although we might have different roles within the team. We know that when we don’t pull together nothing works properly. How much more should we build up our family in Christ by encouraging and supporting them to grow and mature in their faith. It may occasionally mean that we need to correct their understanding, but it must be done sensitively and in love.
Dear Lord,
As I grow, help me to remember to support my family in Christ so that we may grow together. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
