2 Corinthians 1: Verses 3-5 (NIV)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

No matter what difficulties and trials cross our path, God understands. He can offer us the comfort anytime we need, yet sometimes we stay away from Him. Some people may question, or even blame Him for the circumstances we find ourselves in. Yet why should we deny ourselves the comfort and strength that is available to us 24 hours a day, whenever we need it the most?

Another thing that we are able to do having received God’s comfort and strength is to be able to pay it forward to others when they need it. When people see us taking comfort from the Lord, and coming through hardship in His strength, they may hopefully be open to seeking the same help for themselves when they need it. That’s one reason that Christians are not exempt from suffering. We are meant to be examples of how to cope at such times. We just need to make sure we don’t deny ourselves the comfort that’s open to us.

Dear Lord,Thank You for the comfort and strength that You offer to all who will take it. Help me to stay close to You in times of trouble. I know that I can’t cope with hard times by myself. I ask in Jesus’ Name.
