26 June 2026 – What have I learned today?

Acts chapter 17 verses 11-12 (NIV)

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.  As a result, many of them believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.

The Jews in Thessalonica were more like the leaders in Jerusalem. They were jealous of the impact the spread of the Good News so Paul and Silas moved on. We read that the Berean Jews were more noble. They listened to what Paul had to say, and they tested his words against the Scriptures. It sounds like they were very wise and discerning. They found that Paul’s words and the Scriptures aligned and consequently came to faith.

Sometimes people may be skeptical about what we say. But God’s word is living and active. We should never be afraid to point people to the Bible so they can test it for themselves. God’s word is truth.

That does however mean that we, as God’s ambassadors need to be sure that we too can correctly handle the word of truth so that we can point people to the answers they are looking for.

Dear Lord,

I know our words might not always be enough but I know that Yours can ALWAYS be trusted. Help me to be confident in handling it. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
