Titus chapter 1 verse 9 (NIV)
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
I have been reminded in these last few weeks, since this year’s Alpha course began, of the need to hold fast to the teaching and truth of God’s Word, and to never assume that others fully understand the teaching, even if they have been actively in church for some time. We have a responsibility to steep ourself in God’s word and, with the direction and teaching of the Holy Spirit, be able to give an accurate account of what we have learnt so that others learn the truth, and we can stand firm when others oppose it.
Dear Lord,
Help me not to neglect spending time with Your word so that the depth of my understanding may grow more and more, and I can give an accurate account of Your statutes. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
