Ephesians chapter 5 verses 1-2 (NIV)
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Many of us will, at some point in our lives, have adopted someone as a role model; someone we could look up and aspire to be like. We copy different aspects of their behaviour, and people who cross our paths may even recognise who our role model is by the way that we ourselves behave.
Paul taught the Ephesians that it was God’s example they should follow, and Christ’s. It’s easy to get led astray and follow someone who doesn’t set the right example, but if we follow the example of Jesus then we can’t go wrong. If we do that, then the very characterists of Christ will be seen in us. That will make us then the right kind of role model for those seeking to know Jesus.
Dear Lord,
Help me to walk in the way of love, following in the footsteps of Jesus, and be changed more and more to be like Him. I ask in His Name. Amen.
