1 November 2025 – What have I learned today?
Psalm 119 verse 104 (NIV)
Your promises have been thoroughly tested,
and your servant loves them.
God doesn’t make empty promises. They are always fulfilled, but not always when we expect, and sometimes not always in the way that we thought either. Sometimes God may make us wait to test our faith and trust in him. After all the prophets of old who spoke of Jesus’ birth didn’t live to see it happen, but He came as God had promised He would.
Joseph had to wait many years to see the fulfilment of God’s promise to Him, and Moses had to wait forty years just to see the land that had been promised to Israel. I’m sure there will have been times of doubt in their lives, and yet the promises came to pass in God’s own time. We can see the fulfilment as we read the account of their lives in the Bible. Surely then that should encourage us to hold on to the promises God has given us, even if as yet they have not yet come to pass. We can trust that though they may be tested, they will be kept, just as God has said.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the evidence in Your word of every promise, some now fulfilled, and some yet to come. Thank You for every personal promise, those complete, and those yet to come. Amen.
