Luke Chapter 24: Verses 9-12
When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
When the women realised that Jesus had risen, the first thing they did was to share it with the others. But to their friends who hadn’t seen and heard what the women had, it seemed too good to be true, so the majority of those gathered didn’t believe it. But Peter did, and went to investigate for himself. Realisation and hope began to dawn on Peter’s broken heart.
Not everyone will accept our testimony, but maybe that one person who is seeking truth will be curious enough to start their own faith journey because of our experience. Not everyone will, but that’s not our problem. We just need to be faithful and God will do the rest.
Dear Lord,
Help me to be faithful in sharing my story, and not to get disheartened if people are sceptical. If I am open and honest and bring You glory, that’s what matters, and if it encourages just one other person then that’s a blessing. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
