2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 12 (NIV)
Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.
Paul doesn’t boast about his learning or his talents or gifts, but rather of his clear conscience, integrity and Godly sincerity. More importantly, Paul intimated that even the way they conducted themselves was by relying on God’s grace.
So then, even today, the most important things for followers of Jesus to do is to also conduct themselves with the same integrity and Godly sincerity as Paul. We don’t need to rely on our strengths and talents, or lack of them, but on God’s grace and the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, who after all is the same Spirit who dwelt in Paul. It’s integrity and godly sincerity that will speak to others, far more than our practical gifts and talents.
Dear Lord,
Help me to conduct my day to day life with integrity and godly sincerity, so that the light of Jesus might be seen in me. I ask in His Name. Amen.
