Luke chapter 6 verse 38 (NIV)
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Some people stick religiously to a recipe, and carefully measure out and weigh their ingredients. Others add their ingredients without measuring in any formal way. I recall asking my mum about some recipes, and she would often say to add in “a handful” of particular ingredients. Yet how do we accurately measure “a handful”?
Here in this verse we are reminded of God’s generous goodness to us. He doesn’t ration His blessings, but neither does He expect us to be meagre in our generosity towards others. And neither will He leave us wanting. And if its in our power to do good to others, we should do so with a generous hear.t.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your generous blessings. Help me to emulate that generous attitude unto others too. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
