2 Peter Chapter 1: Verses 10 (NLT)

So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

There are some people who believe that they can ask Jesus to come in to their lives and then they can carry on doing whatever they want. There is nothing taught in the New Testament that suggests that. Here Peter explains to his readers that they need to prove that they are followers of God by showing it in how they behave. Faith and works go together. They say that a bird cannot fly on one wing. And faith and works are the two wings that we have that allow us to follow God. If we say we believe in Jesus yet do nothing to prove it, then that is a poor testimony. If we try to get closer to God by doing good works alone, that is unacceptable to God, as we can only come to Him by trusting in the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross. We need to use both of our wings in order to fly. And God intended us to fly like an eagle. (But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah Chapter 40: verse 31)

Dear Lord,

I know I can do nothing for You in my own strength but I also know that the Bible tells me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Help me to do my best in all of the things You want me to do as a good ambassador should. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
