28 November 2025 – What have I learned today?

Daniel chapter 3 verse 19 (NIV)

Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed.

Daniel chapter 3 verses 25-26 (NIV)

He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!”

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had done everything that was asked of them as servants of the king. However, when they took a stand and would not bow to idol worship, the king’s attitude towards them changed. Is that not like so many instances we come across today? When we take a stand for our faith these days, people’s attitudes may often change, especially if our opinion doesn’t align with theirs.

However, when the men are thrown into the fiery furnace, the king’s attitude changes again. He sees the presence of God with them. The king’s heart changed when he realised this, and we see that in his acclamation when he calls for them to come out. He acknowledges the men as servants of God.

When people observe how we react in certain situations, do they recognise that God is with us? Do they give Him the recognition He is due for bringing us through? That’s why we need to be careful to guard our testimony. After all, we don’t seek the recognition for ourselves, rather we want the light of Christ to be seen in us, and for Him to be acknowledged for all He has done.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for revealing Yourself in the midst of such dire circumstances. May the sense and light of Jesus be seen in my life in every circumstance. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
