John chapter 1 verses 6-8 (NIV)
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
John’s primary calling was to be a witness to the people as to who Jesus was – the light of the world. I was reminded during an outreach meeting on Saturday night that we too have a responsibility to bear witness to what Jesus has done for us and who He is. It may not be our full-time role in the way that it was for John, but it is our duty to share the Good News to others. We may not stand out like John in the way that we dress, or what we eat, but we should stand out by allowing the light of Christ shine through us so that others will be attracted to Him.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for John’s faithful testimony and stand for You, even unto death. May I be as faithful and vocal as he was, reflecting Christ in me. I ask in His Name. Amen.
